Tried Sora2 for AI Video Creation on a Smartphone — A Friendly Hands-On Guide
I actually created videos with the hot AI video generator Sora2 and wrote down what happened.
I used only my smartphone. This post is a casual, hands-on experiment rather than a super technical tutorial. If expert articles feel too hard, this one’s for you.
I generated videos from short Japanese prompts, then shared them instantly via Share → Copy link. I also summarized the basic operations like following, notifications, and search so beginners can start quickly.
*Note: All screenshots in this article are from the Japanese version of Sora2. The layout and button labels may look slightly different in the English UI.

Table of Contents
Getting started on a smartphone
Open sora.chatgpt.com in your browser and tap the + button to go to Create video. Enter a short prompt (I used Japanese) and send — a draft is generated in tens of seconds.
* As of Oct 2025, the web version requires an invite code. → Details here
Basic UI: Profile / bottom menu / feed

↑ Tap Menu to open your profile page.
- likes: total likes on your posts
- remixes: how many times others remixed your videos
- followers: how many people follow you

↑ Bottom menu: Home (feed) / Search / + (Create video) / Notifications (aka Activity) / Menu (profile).
- Home: your feed. Use the top-right dropdown to switch For you / Following / Top / Latest
- Search: search users or keywords
- +: create a new video
- Notifications: draft ready or follow alerts (screen name: Activity)
- Menu: your profile page (first screenshot in this section)
Sample: “A cat and an alien” on an autumn avenue
① Tap the + button at the bottom.

② Enter your prompt and tap the “↑” to send.

* You can choose vertical or horizontal aspect ratio by tapping the control at the bottom-right (red frame in the screenshot). (Spec as of Oct 2025)

Here I tested image-to-video style generation where Sora automatically adds motion, camera work, and lighting on top of a base image. With short Japanese prompts (e.g., “taking photos while walking”, “walking and talking”), it added natural walking motion, camera pans, depth-of-field bokeh, and even wind-blown leaves — all on a phone with surprisingly realistic results. You can watch the output here:
Creating sequels easily with Remix
I made a sequel by using Remix with a new idea like “running through the city at night.” It kept the same world and characters, but changed the tempo and motion for a fresh version.
* You can remix other people’s works, too!

Instant sharing: Share → Copy link (no download needed)
On the video screen, just tap Share → Copy link to get a shareable URL. No need to download and re-upload — you can paste it to social media right away.
* The “cat and alien” videos above were shared with this method.

Drafts and deletion rules

- Generated items are saved to Drafts automatically.
- Currently, Drafts cannot be deleted.
- After you Post (publish), you can delete from the video page via the … menu → Delete.

- If your content violates policies (e.g., copyright, portrait rights, real-person misuse), generation may be blocked automatically.
→ To delete a posted video, tap the “trash bin” icon. To revise, tap “Edit” and modify the base image or prompt.
Notifications (Activity): draft ready / failed

- Your draft is ready: generation succeeded — tap to open the draft.
- Your video failed: generation failed — try revising your prompt or aspect ratio and run again.
Search and follow

- Type a keyword (e.g., “anime”) or a user name in the search field.
- Open the account you like and tap Follow — it’ll appear in your Following feed.
Summary
- Create realistic AI videos from short prompts — even in Japanese.
- Use Remix to make easy sequels and variations.
- Share instantly via Share / Copy link — no downloads needed.
- Drafts cannot be deleted (for now); posted videos can.
- Everything can be done on a smartphone — quick and fun for beginners.
